Strategies for Meaningful Living, PC was created in 2004 as a small, part-time private practice. Since then, it has grown in its breadth of services. Dr. Szporn feels passionately about helping couples strengthen their relationship as they prepare to make the often difficult transition to parenthood.
Andrea Szporn, PhD, is a Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota. She received a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University. She received a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from New York University. She has rounded out her training at several hospitals, including: Mount Sinai Medical Center; Lenox Hill Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 2000, she moved to Minneapolis to pursue a Psychology Internship at Hennepin County Medical Center where she was selected for the Child Track of the internship program. She stayed on to complete a Fellowship and in 2002, was hired by the hospital as a Staff Psychologist. She continues to work at the hospital on a part-time basis, providing psychological consultations to the medical units and outpatient psychotherapy in the Hennepin Faculty Associates Psychiatry Clinic and Women's Mental Health Program. Dr. Szporn has a strong clinical interest in attachment, the impact of maternal depression on children, positive parenting strategies, and the impact of childhood sexual abuse on pregnancy, parenting and intimate relationships.

Helena Mackenzie, PhD, is a Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota. She is not employed by Strategies for Meaningful Living, PC, but is a colleague of Dr. Szporn's at Hennepin County Medical Center and will be co-leading some of the Bringing Baby Home classes with Dr. Szporn. Dr. Mackenzie received a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University. In 2000, she moved to Minneapolis to pursue a Psychology Internship at Hennepin County Medical Center. Like Dr. Szporn, she was also selected for the Child Track of the internship program. She stayed on to complete a Fellowship and was quickly hired by Northwest Youth and Family Services, where she offered therapy to children, adults and families. In 2004, she returned to Hennepin County Medical Center, having been recruited to fill a Staff Psychologist position in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Services Clinic. Dr. Mackenzie also provides psychological consultations to the medical units and outpatient psychotherapy in the Hennepin Faculty Associates Psychiatry Clinic and Women's Mental Health Program. In addition, she provides psychotherapy services for children and adolescents. Dr. Mackenzie has a strong clinical interest in effective parenting strategies, the impact of maternal mental health on children, and the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders.
